In the Past:

  • A conversation with Mike Masi

    The European Green Crab is widely considered one of the most invasive species in the marine environment. Mike Masi, local surfer, co-owner of Shell+Claw and former York High School marine science teacher, has been working to establish new markets for green crab in an attempt to control their population and minimize impacts on local estuaries. Over the past two years, Mike and his team of former students (Sam Sewall, Billy Bachelder, Quenton Convery, and Gabe Sarno) have removed more than 40,000 lbs of green crab from the York River and Braveboat Harbor.

    Please join us on January 19th at 6PM as Mike will be sharing the work his team has done to create new markets for green crab.
